HOW TO INSULATE AN UNFINISHED FOUNDATION WALL IN AN UNVENTED CRAWL SPACE

QUESTION FROM :  Jim from Brighton Colorado

My question is about insulating an unfinished foundation wall in an unvented crawl space.

Your webpage describes using vinyl-faced insulation.  I had some flood damage in my basement and I need to replace the water soaked insulation.  The original insulation was discarded.
The problem I'm haveing is finding a supplier of this type of insulation in my area.  None of the big box stores carry it.  I feel like I can do the installation myself, but I need to find a supplier.

Thank you,
Jim

ANSWER FROM THE INSULATION DOCTOR:

Hello Jim,

Thank you for your question and I might be able to help.

The product you are looking for is commonly referred to as FSK-25.

I would recommend that you try the largest insulation company in your town or a major builder supply company (not a box store). These companies usually sell drywall, special types of insulation, siding, and numerous products for the building industry. They should have a source and can order the product for you.

Or...If you have an Owens Corning operation in your area they also can special order it for you. Hope this helps.
