HOW TO INSULATE CINDER BLOCK GARAGE WALLS
QUESTION FROM : Glenn from DuBois, PA
I would like to insulate my cinder block garage walls. Half of walls are ground level. Can I use dow blue board on the walls without baten strips and if so, what should I use for bonding???? thank you Glenn
Thank you for your question.
I would not recommend installing the Dow board without the baten (firring) strips. Dow board requires that it be covered with a non-combustible material such as drywall because it will burn vertically and set off a toxic gas to anyone fighting the fire if it is not covered.
There are a number of glues you can use available at box stores. You just have to read the labels on them to be sure it is a product that will not eat into the foam.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
